Spending more time outside lately has been an unexpected (but very welcome) luxury while working from home. And, it seems I’m not alone - many of our clients are, too, and it’s been a joy to see them enjoying their own outdoor spaces that we’ve created together over the years.
In honor of Earth Day, writing this as I sit on our patio with my morning coffee, and because I truly believe that creating outdoor spaces encourages time spent outside, we wanted to share a few of our outdoor design transformations - from Austin, Texas to Destin, Florida.
Lake Travis Retreat
A lake house with an incredible view, double-decker patio, for a family that loves to entertain and gather with family friends: this was the beginning of our Lake Travis project, where our goal was to design outdoor spaces worthy of the property it sat on and the family who lived in it.
What resulted was a multi-functional space, with plenty of room for group gatherings, while still being intimate enough for a quiet family night.
This outdoor casita, complete with a breezeway to the main house, an outdoor kitchen, dining area and living area, was built from the ground-up. With what was underutilized backyard space, we designed this Texas casita to be the entertaining epicenter for the fun family who lives here.
Our vision for our Sandestin Bay project was a traditional, beautiful, and most of all functional space that could host the neighborhood get-togethers, family reunions, and evening card games with her friends. So, we got creative.
By taking out the screened-in spa pool, we were able to create so much more entertaining space. All together, this porch features an 8-person dining table, a lounge area with a fire pit, and a sitting area with an outdoor media center.
There’s also a smaller sitting area outside the porch by the pool, where we also designed and built a fountain-feature to showcase our client’s garden and her love for being outside.
How are you spending more time outside, these days? Tag us on social media - we'd love to hear!
